Sharing is caring!

If you have read my last few posts, then you know I have caught the travel bug and have tried to focus my life on travel as much as possible. And, today is a new season in my life that I am excited to explore a different way of travelling.

Now that my situation has changed – my kids are older, we live in a beautiful community, and I am starting a new career – how we travel looks different.

Once my daughters returned to public school after our RV adventures, I was left asking the question “What do I want in a career?”

After some soul searching and experimenting, I came up with the answer. I wanted a career that would allow me to travel even more. Either because the nature of the career means I am location independent or because the career is based on my knowledge of travel.

So that brought me here. In an effort to combine my love for planning travel, writing, and exploring, I began this blog as a way to inspire me to reach my goals and to offer you some benefit from the experiences.

Where to Next for The Thoughtful Traveller?

As of today, I have a couple of trips lined up already that I am excited to share with you.

  1. A staycation style one night getaway to explore a beautiful old hotel.
  2. You probably guessed it by now, a week long getaway to my favourite place, Walt Disney World.

I can’t wait to share with you my thoughts, my plans, and get you inspired to explore.

How Will Travel Today Be Different From Before?

In the future, I will travel different because each trip will have a work aspect to it. Not only will I be keeping you all posted on my thoughts about these destinations but I will also be sharing with you how to plan your next getaway at the same time as I am planning mine.

Some changes I am excited about:

  1. Getting in front of the camera.

I am usually the photographer which means the pictures of me on my adventures are few and far between. Perhaps my new “blogger” mindset will force me to remember to get out from behind the camera once and awhile.

  1. Expanding my horizons.

As my kids get older, I am not as worried about them missing out on the travel opportunity if I decide to go it alone. After all, solo travel and travel as a couple is just as important as family travel. And that means my travel budget will get me a bit further next time!

  1. Slowing down.

If I want to write great content I have to slow down long enough to really savour a destination. My past trips have been so focused on keeping everyone entertained that sometimes I’ve missed out on thinking about my own experience. I am excited to begin this new era of mindful travel.

  1. Moving forward with my career.

As I build this blog, gain work experience, and educate myself, I will be working toward my goal of becoming a licensed travel advisor and get to helping you one on one with your vacation goals. I can’t wait!

Join me on my Adventures

I am really excited to have you here as I start this adventure. Tell me what brought you to my blog today. What do you hope to find here as I build a place to help you on your travel planning journey?

Welcome!

Hi, I’m Ashley – The Thoughtful Traveller

And that’s me towing our 40-foot fifth wheel through the Florida Everglades. I am one of the wanderers – not happy staying in one place for too long. It was while wandering that I found the path that led me here. Join me as I help you find your own path to where ever you hope it to lead.

I love to see new places but even the places I have been to many times always seem to surprise me. My first love was Walt Disney World and I make it a point to go back often. I am eager to start international travel now that my children are growing up. Most of my journey’s have been within North America, many by RV, while homeschooling my girls.
